A guided, in-person social experience

Commune

Melbourne · Saturday 7 February · 1:30–3:30pm
75 Reid St · Fully accessible

Not because people don’t want connection.

But because many of the spaces we’re offered don’t feel safe enough for the nervous system to relax.

We’re told to “just make friends.”
To put ourselves out there.
To try harder socially.

But connection doesn’t grow under pressure.
It grows when the body feels at ease.

Commune was created to offer something different.

We’re more connected than ever, and lonelier than we’ve been in years.

Commune is a guided, face-to-face social experience designed to support real connection — without networking, therapy, small talk, or performance.

It’s a space where:

  • you don’t have to impress
  • you don’t have to explain yourself
  • you don’t have to be “on”
  • and you’re allowed to move at your own pace

This is not about fixing loneliness.

It’s about creating the conditions where connection can happen naturally.

WHAT IS COMMUNE?

You’ll be welcomed into a calm, thoughtfully held space designed to support ease, presence, and choice.

Throughout the afternoon, there will be:

What to expect

  • A central communal grazing table, available throughout the event, inviting people to move, pause, and gather naturally
  • Warm herbal tea, cacao, and soda water, offered as a gentle ritual of nourishment and grounding
  • Short, structured paired conversations (a gentle “speed-dating” style format for connection — not romance)
  • Clear beginnings and endings to support nervous system safety and reduce social pressure
  • Conversation prompts that invite depth without requiring personal disclosure
  • Spacious, unhurried time to regulate, connect organically, sit quietly, or simply be in the room with others
  • A quiet chill-out zone with bean bags for rest or regulation if you need a pause
  • A small Commune kit for each participant, designed to support meaningful conversation and reflection during the gathering and beyond
  • A grounded opening and closing, allowing you to arrive slowly and leave feeling settled rather than rushed

You’re free to speak or listen, move or rest, connect or step back — all of it is welcome.

This is a space designed not to push connection, but to create the conditions where connection can unfold naturally.

WHAT COMMUNE IS NOT

  • group therapy
  • a coaching or healing session
  • a networking event
  • a place for advice-giving or fixing

You won’t be asked to share personal stories or talk about trauma.

This is about presence, curiosity, and shared humanity.

To keep the space safe and accessible, Commune is not:

WHO THIS IS FOR

Commune is for people who:

  • feel lonely despite being thoughtful, capable, and self-aware
  • crave real, in-person connection
  • feel overwhelmed by performative social spaces
  • want community without pressure
  • value nervous-system safety, gentleness, and depth

You don’t need to be confident, outgoing, or socially skilled.

You just need to be willing to show up as you are.
We’ll gather at 75 Reid St, a fully accessible, light-filled space in Melbourne, with room to move, rest, and connect.

There will be:

  • a central communal grazing table
  • warm herbal tea, cacao, and soda water
  • chairs arranged in pairs for connection rounds
  • a quiet rest corner with bean bags & noise cancelling headphones

Everything is designed to support ease and choice.
